After the amputation of one of his legs due to cancer, Terry Fox embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. However, with the progression of his cancer, he was eventually forced to stop after 143 grueling days of running across more than 1/3 of Canada’s vast expanse (5,373 kilometers).
